Lai Di Wen - Prof. Diploma in IT Support

Meet Di Wen, an IT student at SBIT. From discovering a passion for IT during MCO to gaining real hands-on skills, he is here to share how SBIT helped turn interest into expertise.

Q: Why did you choose to study at SBIT?
A: During the MCO period, I tried out many computer-related things and realized that I’m really interested in IT. So, I decided to study at SBIT to improve my skills and gain more professional knowledge in this field.

Q: How did SBIT’s teaching methods help you?
A: At SBIT, I got a lot of hands-on experience. I learned by actually doing — like dismantling and assembling computers, setting up servers, configuring networks, and working with firewalls. These practical lessons made it easier for me to understand and apply what I learned in real situations.

Q: Which subject do you like the most in SBIT, and why?
A: My favorite subject is Server because I enjoy configuring servers and figuring out which functions are best suited for different situations. I also love the computer parts lessons, like dismantling and assembling PCs, because I’m really passionate about building computers. Another favorite is Network Device Configuration, where I learned how to prevent network and physical security threats, which is very useful for the workplace.

Q: Would you recommend SBIT to your friends or family?
A: Definitely. If anyone around me is interested in IT, I would recommend SBIT. I would share my experience with them — how I learned basic IT knowledge, made new friends, and gained real hands-on training through internships and practical lessons.

Q: Sum up your learning experience at SBIT in one sentence.
A: Thank you Mr. Harvent, Mr. David, and Mr. Steven for teaching me so many valuable skills and knowledge!
