Chery Malaysia Rewards Paralympians with SUVs and Special Discounts

Chery Malaysia has delivered new SUVs to Malaysian paralympians who competed in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Unlike the free cars given to Olympic athletes, these SUVs were purchased by the paralympians with special discounts. The handover event was held at Chery’s Glenmarie showroom and was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. Among the recipients, badminton gold medallist Cheah Liek Hou received an Omoda E5 EV, while shot put silver medallist Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli got an Omoda 5. Powerlifting gold medallist Bonnie Bunyau Gustin booked a Tiggo 8 Pro, although he could not attend the event.

Chery offered generous discounts to support the athletes, including a 50% discount for gold medallists, 30% discount for silver medallists, semi-finalists, and finalists, and a 15% discount for all other athletes who qualified for the games. Chery Malaysia’s Vice President, Michael Chew, expressed pride in the athletes, saying, “Our paralympians are a symbol of strength and resilience. Chery is proud to support and celebrate their achievements.”

Earlier, Malaysian badminton players Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, and Lee Zii Jia received new Chery SUVs for their bronze medal wins at the Olympics in Paris, each receiving a Tiggo 7 Pro. Meanwhile, women’s doubles player Thinaah Muralitharan purchased an Omoda 5 with a 30% discount as a semi-finalist.
