Meet Nur Idzni Farahiyah, a proud graduate of SBIT's Professional Diploma in IT Support program. Today, she works as an IT Support Engineer at Konica Minolta, where she applies the practical skills she gained at SBIT. Her passion for IT started at a young age, and with SBIT’s hands-on approach, she turned her dream into reality. Here’s what she has to say about her journey at SBIT:

Q: Why did you choose to study at SBIT?
A: I chose SBIT because my SPM results were not great, and I wanted a place that would still give me a good opportunity to pursue my passion for IT. My sister recommended SBIT to me because she knew I’ve always been interested in technology—from mobile phones to PCs and printers. Another reason I chose SBIT was its practical, hands-on teaching approach, which was exactly what I needed since I prefer learning by doing rather than theory-based learning.

Q: How has SBIT's teaching method helped you?
A: SBIT's teaching methods have been incredibly helpful. In my current role as an IT Support Engineer, I handle tasks like asset management, troubleshooting, and repairing PCs and printers. Thanks to the practical skills I developed at SBIT, I’m able to confidently manage these responsibilities.

Q: Which subject in the SBIT course is your favorite? Why?
A: My favorite subjects were PC configuration and printer setup. I loved the hands-on aspect of these classes—working with tools like screwdrivers and solving real-world problems. Practical learning is what I enjoy most, and these subjects were perfect for me.

Q: Are you using the skills you learned at SBIT?
A: Definitely! I’d say about 80% of what I learned at SBIT is directly applicable to my current job. The focus on practical, hands-on training has been invaluable in preparing me for the tasks I handle every day at work.

Q: What makes SBIT unique compared to other schools?
A: One thing that stands out about SBIT is the friendly and supportive environment. I was the only girl in my diploma class, but my classmates and instructors were very welcoming and treated me like family. It made the learning experience much more enjoyable.

Q: Did SBIT's interview training help you prepare for jobs?
A: Yes, absolutely! The interview training at SBIT was a game-changer for me. It helped me develop presentation skills and the confidence to communicate effectively during interviews. These skills have been critical in landing my current role.

Q: How has the service hour requirement impacted you?
A: The service hour requirement was an eye-opener. It gave me real-world experience by helping staff with tasks like configuring PCs, managing Excel sheets, and assisting with help desk operations. This hands-on experience helped me understand what it’s like to work in a professional IT environment.

Q: Would you recommend SBIT to friends or family?
A: Absolutely! I would recommend SBIT to anyone, including my friends and family. The friendly staff, supportive environment, and hands-on approach to learning make it a fantastic place to study.

Q: Summarize your experience at SBIT in a sentence.
A: It’s ineffable—a truly amazing and life-changing experience!
