Tooth Extraction

Tooth Extraction

There are several reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted:

  1. Severe Tooth Decay: When decay has progressed to a point where it has extensively damaged the tooth structure and cannot be effectively restored with fillings or other treatments, extraction may be necessary.

  2. Gum Disease: Advanced gum disease (periodontitis) can cause the supporting tissues and bone around a tooth to deteriorate, leading to loose teeth that may require extraction to prevent further spread of infection.

  3. Impacted Wisdom Teeth: Wisdom teeth, or third molars, may become impacted (trapped) within the jawbone or gum tissue, causing pain, swelling, and potential damage to surrounding teeth. In such cases, extraction is often recommended.

  4. Orthodontic Treatment: In some cases, tooth extraction may be necessary as part of orthodontic treatment to create space for proper alignment of the remaining teeth.
