Replacing STEAM AIR EJECTOR SILENCERS at ASTA Chemical, Penang

Asta Chemical was having an issue where their old Ejector Silencer was not performing as it was supposed to.

Upon investigation, it was most likely due to internal corrosion taking into account that the silencers has been installed more than 20 years ago.

The old silencers were manufactured by a well-known company Burgess Manning, USA

The noise level with old silencers around the area was recorded at 98.3 dBA

Using CFD software, we ran a simulation to see how the flow behave, the integrity of the material, the pressure drop, and the expected noise level.

As soon as we were given the green light to proceed, our fabrication team start the work by procuring the material, cutting, rolling, and welding.

The silencers' requirements were to be painted externally and internally.

After such a long delay due to Covid-19, finally the project resumed and we start the installation in the 2nd quarter of 2021. 

The crane was used to lift the old silencers and then replaced with the new one which was designed and fabricated by ISTIQ Noise Control Sdn Bhd

The silencers were successfully installed as planned and after commissioning the client was satisfied with the overall performance. The noise level after the completion of the works was measured at 84 dBA.
