Proton e.Mas 7 Bookings Now Open: Starting from RM120k.

Malaysia's first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Proton e.Mas 7, has quickly become one of the most eagerly awaited cars of the year, thanks to the iconic local "tiger" emblem and its electric powertrain.

The wait is nearly over, as Proton has now opened bookings for the electric SUV, which will be available in two variants – Prime and Premium – with an estimated starting price of RM120,000. This makes it more affordable than the X70 Premium and Premium X variants, which start at RM123,800 and RM126,800, respectively.

Interested buyers can now place orders for the Proton e.Mas 7 at all Pro-Net dealerships across Malaysia, with the official launch scheduled for December 2024. The e.Mas, debuting as Proton's first electrified-only brand, will be overseen by Pro-Net, which also manages the local distribution of Smart vehicles.

The e.Mas 7 is built on the Geely Galaxy E5 platform, which was introduced in China in August. According to Proton's social media updates, the e.Mas 7 features the same advanced 12-in-1 electric system as the Galaxy E5. Its front-mounted electric motor delivers 218 PS and 320 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.

For handling, the electric SUV is equipped with MacPherson struts at the front and a multilink independent suspension at the rear.

The Proton e.Mas 7 comes with two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options. The entry-level Prime model is equipped with a 49.52-kWh battery, providing an estimated maximum range of 345 km (WLTP), while the Premium version features a larger 60.22-kWh battery, extending the range to 410 km (WLTP).

As Malaysia's first BEV, the e.Mas 7 supports DC fast charging, with the Prime variant capable of up to 80 kW and the Premium variant reaching up to 100 kW. According to Proton, the electric SUV can charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 20 minutes using a DC charger.

Externally, the e.Mas 7 is equipped with standard automatic LED headlights featuring active high beam (AHB) control and powered retractable door handles. The Premium model adds extra features, including a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof with a sunshade, an active grille shutter, and larger 19-inch wheels compared to the 18-inch wheels on the Prime.

Aside from the interior color, the e.Mas 7 keeps most of the features found in its Chinese version. It has a big 15.4-inch touchscreen with a sharp 2.5K resolution running on Flyme Auto OS, the largest display ever in a Proton.

Standard features include a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, a powered driver’s seat, wireless charging, automatic air conditioning with an N95 filter, storage under the back seats and trunk floor, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, though Proton hasn’t shared how much power it can output.

The Premium version offers even more, like an auto-dimming rearview mirror, powered and ventilated front seats with a memory setting for the driver, a head-up display, 256-color ambient lighting, and a top-notch 16-speaker Wanos sound system from Flyme Sound (10 more speakers than the Prime version).

The e.Mas 7 also comes with advanced safety tech, including Level 2 ADAS, which features automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, lane change assist, and smart cruise control.

Since its media preview a few months ago, the e.Mas 7 electric SUV has embarked on a groundbreaking nationwide tour, traveling through all 14 states and federal territories in Malaysia. This first-of-its-kind tour showcases the SUV's ability to handle various terrains across the country.

With the East Coast segment of the tour now complete, Proton reported that the electric SUV has covered over 3,200 km in total. Calling all car enthusiasts—don't miss out! Reserve your Proton EV now and be among the very first to own one!
