Hyundai Previews Upcoming Ioniq 9 Three-Row SUV Set for November Debut.
As Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 continue to gain popularity, the brand is getting ready to launch its next electric vehicle: the Ioniq 9. This upcoming three-row electric SUV, inspired by the SEVEN Concept shown a few years ago, is Hyundai’s largest model in the Ioniq series and a step into the large electric SUV market.
The Ioniq 9’s size and “9” name place it at the top of Hyundai’s electric lineup. It’s built on the same platform (called E-GMP) as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kia EV9, so it will likely share similar features with these models.
Hyundai describes the Ioniq 9’s look as “Aerosthetic,” which combines aerodynamics with stylish design. It’s expected to have the futuristic, retro-inspired style of the Ioniq 5 and 6, with smooth lines and a roomy interior inspired by the design of boats.
The teaser images show that the Ioniq 9 has a smooth, curved roofline and a long wheelbase, suggesting a spacious interior for all three rows of seats. It also features roof rails for added practicality.
The front headlights use a unique design called Parametric Pixels, which is a signature of the Ioniq series, while the taillights have a vertical layout.
Hyundai hasn’t revealed the details of the Ioniq 9's powertrain yet, but since it shares a platform with the Kia EV9, we can expect similar performance. For example, the dual-motor EV9 offers 385 hp and 700 Nm of torque, can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, and has a range of 505 km (WLTP) with its 99.8 kWh battery.
So, get ready! Hyundai will launch the Ioniq 9 soon, and we’re excited to see what this electric vehicle has to offer!
